This 2-hour course blends video instruction, readings, and activities to give you the confidence and experience you need to effectively teach multiplication and measurement with color tiles. The course is asynchronous and can be completed wherever and whenever you want!
You will take away specific teaching ideas, plenty of hands-on practice, and activities to use with your students.
Purchase this course individually or as part of our three- and six-course bundles.
Color tiles are a great way to build early understanding of multiplication and measurement. You’ll learn how to have students build arrays and area models to reinforce fraction understanding, how to use the tiles to demonstrate the commutative and inverse properties, and to explore area and perimeter. Color tiles are a great way to build conceptual understanding and to prepare students for the transition to multi-digit multiplication.
In this two-hour course you will learn how color tiles can be used to reinforce key concepts:
• Foundational Multiplication Concepts
• Connections Between Area and Multiplication
• Relationships Between Area and Perimeter
The course combines videos and activities using hands-on or virtual manipulatives. In addition, free activities are included that you can use right away!
