Ten-frames provide a tactile experience that helps students develop basic number sense. Students build their understanding through composition and decomposition of numbers within 5, 10, 20 and beyond. In this two-hour course you will learn how ten-frames can be used as a model for representing numbers and for teaching beginning and multi-digit addition and subtraction. For each of these concepts you will learn a variety of strategies including:
• Modeling Teen Numbers
• Make a Ten
• Find a Double
• Subtraction Using "Get to Ten"
• Modeling Multi-Digit Addition and Subtraction
The course combines videos and activities using hands-on or virtual manipulatives. In addition, free activities are included that you can use right away!
